Taking Care of Your Skin in Between Visits

Learning how to take care of your skin can be a long and frustrating exercise. It usually requires a lot of patience, money, knowledge and experimentation. While treatments like microdermabrasion, photo rejuvenation and skin exfoliation are the ultimate refreshers for your skin, it’s not realistic to get these treatments every week! But rest assured, there are small, yet effective things you can do to help keep your skin fresh and flawless between laser visits. 

1. Beware of the sun 

An Australian summer is your skin’s worst enemy. It can leave your skin looking dry, red and sun damage can cause signs of premature aging such as pigmentation and wrinkles. Speak to any celebrity with flawless skin and they’ll tell you that they never leave the house without sunscreen on. Cate Blanchet and Jennifer Lopez swear by their sunscreen routine and it shows!

2. Moisturise and moisturise! 

Moisturizing twice a day, in the morning and before bed, especially during winter, when your skin is at its driest. Use SPF in the morning and a more intense, SPF free moisturiser at night. 

3. A fortnightly mask

There’s nothing quite like treating your face to a rejuvenating mask, whether it’s an at home DIY or a professional one, your skin will love you for it. If you wear heavy makeup everyday masks are like an apology for your skin, and it’ll accept it, every time. 

 4. Serums

If you are under the wrath of pigmentation or enlarged pores, serums are here to help. Serums have more active ingredients than a moisturiser. Apply serum morning and night after your cleanser and before your moisturiser. 

5. Wash off your make up

It’s been repeated a million times, and we will repeat it again. Never sleep with your make up on! And if your make up doesn’t need to be on, take it off. Make up clogs your pores, causing acne and black heads.
