Laser machines can be used to treat a number of different conditions. The Candela GentleYAG is most commonly used for hair removal but is an extremely versatile machine capable of treating many other skin conditions such as vascular and spider veins.

Spider veins are small varicose veins that appear closer to the surface of the skin.  They are often red or blue and look similar to spider webs. Most commonly, spider veins are found on a person’s face or legs and are more likely to affect women than men due to the production Estrogen, which supports their growth. Spider veins can also be caused by the build-up of blood and factors such as sun exposure, lack of exercise and a poor diet.

Laser therapy can effectively treat spider veins by sending very strong bursts of light through the skin onto the vein. The laser energy coagulates the blood inside the vessel causing it to collapse and seal. The treatment takes for 15 to 20 minutes but no longer than 1 hour. Usually, only 2 to 5 sessions are required to permanently remove spider veins.
