Laser machines can be used to treat a number of different conditions. The Candela GentleYAG is most commonly used for hair removal but is an extremely versatile machine capable of treating many other skin conditions such as vascular and spider veins.

Spider veins are small varicose veins that appear closer to the surface of the skin.  They are often red or blue and look similar to spider webs. Most commonly, spider veins are found on a person’s face or legs and are more likely to affect women than men due to the production Estrogen, which supports their growth. Spider veins can also be caused by the build-up of blood and factors such as sun exposure, lack of exercise and a poor diet.

Laser therapy can effectively treat spider veins by sending very strong bursts of light through the skin onto the vein. The laser energy coagulates the blood inside the vessel causing it to collapse and seal. Treatment takes for 15 to 20 minutes but no longer than 1 hour. Usually, only 2 to 5 sessions are required to permanently remove spider veins.

How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal

With winter now upon us, it’s the perfect time to undergo laser hair removal. For the perfect summer skin, it is extremely important that your clients are aware of the importance of preparation before treatments.  By following these top tips, you can ensure your clients receive the best possible results.

  • 24 hours before your appointment, you need to shave the area to be treated.  It’s best to do this with a new razor and plenty of shaving foam
  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning, solariums and fake tans so that your skin is of its natural colour.
  • Do not wax, pluck, or remove hair by the roots, as the root must be present in the follicle in order for laser treatment to be successful.
  • Make sure you are free from deodorant and mosituriser so it’s clean and ready for treatment.
  • Make sure you inform your therapist of any medication you are taking as this can cause skin sensitivity or a reaction to the laser.

Laseraid are Australia’s number one laser supplier to the cosmetic industry.  We are highly committed to providing you with advice, devices, service solutions and training all at affordable prices.  As your trusted laser partner, we pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service so you can give your clients the best possible customer experience.  Following these simple steps will ensure you receive the best results from our top of the range Candela equipment.  If you are interested in renting, hire-purchasing or buying any of our Candela machines, or for any more information, call us today (02) 9011 5509.

The Importance of Aftercare for Facial Laser Therapy

At Laseraid we sell laser machines that can be used for a number of different treatments. In particular the Candela Gentlelase machines are very versatile and are capable of treating hair removal as well as pigmented and vascular lesions and wrinkles.

Our machines are commonly used for skin treatments such as hair removal, to lessen the appearance of wrinkles, blemishes or scars and to remove freckles and sunspots.

When receiving laser therapy for these kinds of treatments, it is important to ensure that the client is aware of the potential side effects and also the importance of aftercare. By following the correct procedure clients will be sure to receive and maintain the best possible results.

Aftercare for the treatment of blemishes, sunspots and pigmented spots

For the first 24 to 48 hours, cold comprises or cold packs may be applied to the treatment area to help reduce swelling and ease discomfort. The following day the skin must be cleaned gently 4 to 5 times a day, followed by the application of ointment in order to keep the skin moisturised. This process will prevent scabs from forming. Depending on the type of treatment, the area should heal in approximately 10 – 21 days.

Skin care after treatment

Once the skin is no longer peeling, usually 7-10 days after treatment, a light layer of mineral makeup can be applied to the area to cover any red blemishes or patches. Practitioners must ensure all clients are aware of the importance of the application of sunblock to new skin to prevent sun damage.

Aftercare is as important as pre-treatment and the treatment itself. By ensuring all clients are aware of the aftercare process, they should see the best possible results from laser therapy with little, if no complications. Please ensure you speak to your therapist about aftercare.
